We request that all submissions aim for a maximum of 1,000 words - however, we are a flexible group and will consider longer pieces on a case-by-case basis.
Please single-space your text. Our AI policy
Glasshouse strongly discourages submitting pieces that have been written and/or augmented by AI. We aim to maintain a distinctly human voice in an ever-automated world. However, we understand that this is not always detectable, so we essentially operate on the honor system.
If we publish something that appears to have been written with AI, please notify us at [email protected] so we can investigate. What we want:

Glasshouse is a music magazine centered on the listener, not the industry. We’re here to amplify new voices and perspectives in music journalism that often go unheard. We publish four print issues per year, run a monthly snail mail club, and post one weekly Substack piece.

Our Story
Glasshouse grew out of a frustration that many music lovers have felt. While women are omnipresent in music creation and consumption, our voices are routinely missing from music journalism and critique. Even when women establish successful careers as music writers, they are almost always working for publications run by men.We believe this lack of critical voice and ownership is responsible for the constant misunderstanding of women in music media and force us to be outliers in the telling of our own stories. Too often, female artists are interpreted instead of being understood. Here at Glasshouse, we’ve decided that if the industry won't make a place for women, it's about time we make a place of our own.
Our Mission
Glasshouse is designed to be gritty and loud. We are here to push back against the machine of modern music journalism and give power back to the individual. Glasshouse is rooted in community and connectivity, not authority and debate. We’re not just a publication where women can talk about women, but one where our perspectives, language, and shared culture will be the norm. Our goal is to infiltrate the very fibers of music media and challenge the industry to allow women to write the stories too. This will be a magazine made for all music lovers, but designed with a strong feminist lens and perspective.
